Origin: When, in 388, Hantei Fujiwa was forced to banish many samurai from their Clans due to Gozoku pressure, a young bushi of the Matsu named Mochiko refuses to live in dishonor. Travelling across the Imperial roads, she gathered many travellers that shared her hatred for the Gozoku and her high sense of honour. By 390 she had already organized a powerful army, and the Jinkon Kishi emerged into Lady Sun’s light.
Methods: The main objective of the Jinkon Kishi has always been the protection of the people from the abuses of the Gozoku and its militia. They often raided caravans for supplies, distributing food amongst overtaxed heimin. Assassination was also a common approach, specially amongst former Scorpion Clan samurai; their targets influential Gozoku, senior members of the Shinsen-Gumi, and even ronins considered too dishonest – like the Forest Killers…
They also supplied farmers with weapons, so they could uprise as soon as the Jinkon Kishi needed an army capable of overthrowing the government.
